Redcord Suspension Therapy

Updated: Jul 27, 2023

The latest treatment intervention that gets results fast without medication, surgery or boring physical therapy sessions. Introducing Suspension Rehabilitation Therapy powered by Redcord, only available at Actify Movement Science & Performance Studio.

The beauty of a suspension exercise training system, especially Redcord, is that it’s easily modifiable through slings and bungees to treat people of all abilities. By providing assistance to off-load body weight when initially learning or re-learning movement patterns individuals can come back from injury more quickly and possibly decrease further injury down the road. If you have been struggling with typical overuse injuries it may be time to try suspension exercise training.

Are you living life pain free?

Research has shown that the key to be pain free is eating healthy, regular exercise, and adequate rest. Studies have also shown that the typical office worker is deficient on 2 out of 3 on the above topics.

In the Late 1980′s, a Norwegian carpenter discovered what is known today as Redcord.

In the last 12 months, Dr. Marcia Perretto, has been on endless pursuit to bring this amazing equipment and treatment approach to the people of Boca Raton and the entire Palm Beach and Broward Area. Through her professional knowledge, Dr. Perretto knew that if he was able to figure out a way to decrease a patient’s natural protection response (also known as muscle guarding), down he would be able to get to the injured areas faster with less pain production.

“What would happen if I could just have someone hold this body part, so it’s completely relaxed? I’d just need another set of hands!”

This is exactly what Redcord has been able to do for the clients at Actify Movement Science & Performance Studio in Boca Raton. “It’s almost like having an extra pair of hands.”

The average patient has a difficult time relaxing. During a typical session, we find ourselves stating to the patient “just relax” over a hundred times. The typical response is “I don’t know how”. So, what if we could suspend parts of the body that needed to be worked on, hence relaxing your limbs, spine and joints? The results of RedCord are highly encouraging. But, there is a considerable segment of physicians and other healthcare practitioners that do not truly understand the benefits of physical therapy, fitness and RedCord. In short, the people that have used the Redcord Treatment here at Actify, were often able to achieve greater results, ten times (10 x) faster and more effective than traditional physical therapy and wellness alternatives.

How It Works:

Neck & Back

With the ability to suspend the entire body we are able to shut down the larger muscle groups that typically guard when you are in pain and work on the deep stabilizers to help achieve a higher level of proprioception.

Foot & Ankle

A diagnosis such as plantar faciitis, is still treated manually, but to achieve faster results, we use Redcord to help build the strength in the fascia of your lower extremities (hip, knee and ankle).

Hip & Knee

Most post surgical rehab is limited to non-weight bearing exercises. In a typical rehab center, the results will be limited due to your speed of healing. We can speed that up by 10x with exercises in non-weight bearing positions.

Shoulder, Elbow & Wrist

Surprisingly, an injury to any of these body parts creates severe muscle imbalances in your shoulder girdle and mid-back. Correcting these imbalances and strengthening the anatomical chain has been proven to regain range of motion and decrease pain.

Breaking Bad Habits

When we are in pain, the body will adapt and figure out a way to get you through the day. These “habits” that we form, can last months to years, usually, the #1 reason why an injury returns after a few months. Let’s break those bad habits, once and for all.

Studies have shown that pain, injury and inactivity can disrupt our neuromuscular system. They alter our brain’s capacity to switch on the right muscles, at the right time, and with the right amount of strength. This loss of muscle control impairs our ability to properly stabilize a joint through its range of motion. As a result, we tend to compensate with other muscles, leading to abnormal movement strategies, muscle strains, and even more pain and restriction.

This is a vicious cycle that physical therapists frequently see in the clinic. As muscles become deactivated as for example on a painful shoulder, the stabilizing muscle (i.e., serratus anterior) limits the range of motion of the arm. As this condition worsens, there is a tendency for other muscles along the kinetic chain to take over for a “weak link” that exists in the shoulder. Therefore, muscle imbalances often exist in areas far away from where the person actually experiences symptoms, such as in the trunk, hip, knee, ankle or foot. Shoulder dysfunction can get deep rooted in these other areas, requiring a more holistic treatment approach.

Results

The results can often be dramatic, sometimes with immediate relief of pain and improvement in function. We will also go over a home exercise program to help keep your muscles “activated” between treatment sessions. You will be educated about your condition, why it is happening, and viable strategies to resolve or manage it. Compliance with a home exercise program is absolutely necessary for long term success.
